Dominica is an island located between the Caribbean Sea and North Atlantic Ocean, at half the distance between Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago. Due spectacular, luxuriant vegetation and a variety of flora and fauna, Dominica is called the "Nature Island of the Caribbean". Dominica was discovered in Columbus on Sunday, November 3, 1493 (in Latin "Dominica" means Sunday).
From mountains covered with tropical vegetation crystal water, small rivers that form cascades. They form natural lakes and pools. Natives say that the river is the same number of days in a year - 365. They say that if Columbus could review the island Dominica, would recognize it immediately, because nature has been preserved in primordial state.
The island is volcanic origin, there is here 7 extinct volcanoes. Eruption last held in 1880 and resulted in the appearance of the second hot lake in the world in size. On the island there are sulfur springs, and gaizere pumice fields. Dominica has two marine reserves, a botanical garden and four national parks, one of which is on UNESCO list of world heritage.
