Opatija (Italian Abbazia), is a popular summer resort and winter in Croatia, near the port of Rijeka and 84 km south-east of Trieste by train.

It is located in the Kvarner Bay (Quarnero or Carnaro) to cover the mountains Učka (Monte Maggiore, Vojak reach the top 1401 m), and is surrounded by beautiful woods of laurel.

The average temperature is 10 °C (50 °F) in winter and 25 ° F (77 °F) in summer.

Old abbey, San Giacomo della Priluca, derived from the name and location (Abbazia means abbey in Italian), was transformed into a private house.

Entire sea coast north and south of Opatija is made by rock, with several small winter tourist resorts.
