Danish Parliament gave its approval Tuesday for the adoption of foreign children or Danish by gay couples.
Gay couples in Denmark will be able to adopt children
The bill, filed by deputy Simon Emil Ammitzboell, was adopted by 62 votes in favor versus 53 against. `It is a big step forward and was shot down a high hurdle in the way of equality between gay couples and heterosexual ones,` said Ammitzboell. Denmark was the first country in the world which allowed civil marriages between homosexuals in municipalities, in October 1989, giving them the same rights as heterosexuals except for artificial insemination and adoption.
